Cookie Policy

Effective date: 3 December 2023
Last updated: 3 December 2023

1. What this document covers

This Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on the osgt.uk website and in the client portal, why they are used and how you can manage them.

The website is operated by Open Smart Gambling Technology Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 15326596, with its registered office at 122 Leadenhall Street, London, EC3V 4AB, United Kingdom.

This Policy supplements our Privacy Policy, available on osgt.uk.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website may store in a user's browser. Cookies may be used to maintain a session, provide security, remember settings and, where the relevant consent has been given, provide analytics.

Cookies may be:

  • session cookies — deleted when the session ends or the browser is closed;
  • persistent cookies — stored for a defined period;
  • first-party cookies — set by the OSGT website;
  • third-party cookies — set by a third-party service connected to the website.

3. Technologies we use

3.1. Strictly necessary cookies

The website and client portal may use first-party strictly necessary cookies for authentication, maintaining the user session, protecting forms and providing security. Without them, some client portal functions cannot operate correctly.

CategoryPurposeTypical durationType
Session and authenticationMaintaining login and the user sessionSession or until logoutFirst-party
Security and request protectionProtection against forged requests, abuse and other threatsUsually session-based or a limited technical periodFirst-party
Essential technical preferencesEnabling a function or security setting requested by the userDepends on the functionFirst-party

The technical names of these cookies may change as the platform is updated, but their purposes are limited to operation, security and functionality requested by the user.

3.2. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used. Google Analytics is loaded only after the user has consented to analytics cookies.

Under a standard Google Analytics 4 configuration, cookies may include:

CookiePurposeDefault durationType
_gaDistinguishing users for analyticsUp to 2 yearsThird-party analytics
_ga_*Maintaining Google Analytics session state; the suffix depends on the property identifierUp to 2 yearsThird-party analytics

The actual duration may be shorter if the user deletes the cookies, withdraws consent or the Google Analytics configuration uses a shorter retention period.

3.3. Cloudflare Web Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregated website usage and performance statistics. Cloudflare Web Analytics operates without analytics cookies and does not use cookies or browser local storage to track visitors for analytics purposes.

Cloudflare is also used for website delivery and network security. Separate strictly necessary Cloudflare security mechanisms may be used depending on the configuration and the nature of a request.

3.4. Advertising and cross-site tracking cookies

We do not use advertising cookies, Meta Pixel or other technologies for cross-site advertising tracking or retargeting.

4. Consent

Strictly necessary cookies required to provide a service requested by the user, operate the client portal or provide security may be used without prior consent where permitted under PECR.

Google Analytics and other non-essential analytics cookies are set only after the user has given consent. Before such consent is obtained, Google Analytics must not set analytics cookies.

Users must be able to accept or reject non-essential cookies and later change their choice. Declining analytics cookies does not restrict access to OSGT's core services.

5. How to withdraw consent and manage cookies

You can:

  • change your choice through the Cookie settings function on the website;
  • delete stored cookies through your browser settings;
  • block cookies through your browser settings.

If you block strictly necessary cookies, some functions, including access to the client portal, may stop working.

6. Retention

Session cookies are deleted when the session ends or the browser is closed, according to their purpose. Persistent cookies are retained for the period set by the relevant technology or until the user deletes them.

For Google Analytics, the standard lifetime of _ga and _ga_* cookies is up to two years unless the service configuration or the user's choices result in a shorter period.

7. Changes

We may update this Policy if the cookies, analytics or similar technologies we use change. The current version is published on the website with the date of the update.
